Hide refinement list content by default and show results when searched

I am currently using Vue-InstantSearch with ais-refinement-list to filter my search.

Is there a programmatical way to hide the refinement’s facet values by default and only display them when the user searched in the refinement’s searchable input? Or is it something that should be achieved through CSS?

Basically what I’d like to have is a behaviour similar to ais-autocomplete but for the ais-refinement-list's search input, I don’t know if that’s possible

I already tried setting the limit attribute to 0 to hide facet values, but only values from 1 to 100 seems to be allowed.

Thanks for your help
