Is using a string id such as "us-ca-bfdj213b" slower than an integer id?

I was wondering if using a custom objectID schema (see title) will slow down searching in algolia. And if so, is it significant enough to matter? I’m guessing algolia does some of their own indexing behind the scenes, but I don’t know. If they do use the objectID as the index (speaking in database terms), then our GIN-based index may not be as performant if they’re using just B-Tree, for example.
Thanks for the help!

Hi @dev21, without going into too much details as you can see on this page https://www.algolia.com/doc/guides/sending-and-managing-data/prepare-your-data/in-depth/what-is-in-a-record/#unique-identifier---objectid objectID are indexed as strings and not integer, so you can use a string as objectID.

Hope it answers your question!
