Showing exact match at the top of the list

Hi there!

I have a list of newspapers in index.
E.g.:
Australian, The - World
Australian, The
Australian Financial Review, The
Australian Financial Review, The - Education
Australian Financial Review, The - World
Australian Financial Review, The - Cars

So when I search by “Australian, The” title I get longest results coming up first:
Australian Financial Review, The
Australian Financial Review, The - Education
Australian Financial Review, The - World
Australian Financial Review, The - Cars

Seems its been getting more and more difficult to search for The Australian, whether I write “The Australian” or “Australian, The” it never seems to be at the top of the list.

Ranking Formula:

  • Ranking Criteria (typo, geo, words, filters, proximity, attribute, exact)
  • rank (desc)
  • title (asc)

What can i do for showing “The Australian” at the op of the list?

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

You are write in assuming it should come at the top.
However I’m not sure you have provided us with enough information to help you debug the issue.

Could you:

  1. Make sure you haven’t touched the “Proximity distance precision” in the ranking tab of your index settings
  2. Share the ranking info for the first record you get for the Australian, The search, and the ranking info for the record you’d expect at the top?

By ranking info, what I mean is the information in the popup that shows over the trophy icon in your Algolia dashboard:

Thanks!
