Earlier this week, Firebase announced a new document-oriented database called Firestore. While many of us are big fans of Firebase’s classic real-time database, its lack of rich querying support held back some use cases. With Firestore, these use cases are now possible as are a variety of others that include synchronization between devices and offline support.
For full-text search, we’re proud to say that Firebase is recommending Algolia. We collaborated with the Firebase team on the search documentation to make sure it has everything you need to integrate our two technologies:
Firestore <> Cloud Functions <> Algolia
If you’re able to give the guide a try, we’d love to hear about your experience. Anything we could add or improve?
